I’m a graphic designer, illustrator and animator who mainly works with traditional techniques and can be a real nerd for paper. In my projects I have always included this in some way as I believe it gives a special finish and uniqueness to the final product. I particularly enjoy working on very symbolic and/or narrative based projects as I love to bring stories, especially if surreal, to life through my visuals. While I do lean more towards making stand-alone illustrations, I also enjoy working—and have worked in the past—on branded videos and illustrations, as well as experimental typography-based pieces.

At the Threshold

‘At the Threshold’ is a publication on liminal spaces, those that seem to sit in between the physical world and non-reality, or otherwise two separate stages of being. I have always found liminal works, objects and spaces to be particularly fascinating.

To me, observing something characterised by this ambiguity and surreality, translated into feeling suspended between moods, results in an internal liminality. I wished to create a book that could convey such a feeling, not only through its typographic and photographic contents, but also externally and intrinsically as an object.

The Wilting Point

‘The Wilting Point’ is an animated short film about a life lived in passiveness and feeling alienated within a community. It explores the surreal event of someone melting as soon as they leave their neighbourhood. This person, not so used to exploring the outside world, became an object whose life and essence are relegated to the surrounding environment. The protagonist, after witnessing the melting, feels strangely unaffected by it and experiences a melting of his own.

This is an animation entirely made using the paper collage technique, which helped create a non-overly-polished atmosphere, consequently contributing to the surrealism of the story.

Tuned In With Type

‘Tuned In With Type’ is a project that explores expressive typography in the world of music, in particular mirroring the melody, themes, tone of voice and lyrics of 6 specific songs that all differ between each other in those characteristics. Studies for this project included paper collage, air-dry clay modelling and digital editing. I chose which letters to depict based on which best represented base shapes that would be used to create an entire alphabet.
